What It Is
The Hotslings AP (for Adjustable Pouch) is a revolution in pouch design, combining the sleek fit of a fitted pouch with the convenience of adjustability to fit different-sized wearers and allow custom positioning. It's a continuous, folded loop of designer fabric with sleek padding on either edge where baby sits to provide cushioning comfort for little bodies and limbs. Two strategically placed buckles, hidden by hoods, allow the AP to adjust via cloth webbing straps to fit comfortably on you, your friends, some dads and most grandmas. The Hotslings AP comes with a matching drawstring/backpack style bag for carrying the sling or small necessities like wallet, cellphone, and keys.
How It Works
The Hotslings AP is worn across one shoulder, with the wide fabric spread across your back and cupping one shoulder. The seam goes in front, lined up under your opposite breast. Baby goes into the pouch formed by the two sides of the continuous loop of fabric. If the Hotslings AP is worn on the right shoulder, the two adjuster buckles are easily accessible for customizing the fit. On the left shoulder, the Hotslings AP is adjustable from the back if you're flexible. You lift up on the hidden buckles to let slack into the cotton webbing straps, and pull on the cotton webbing straps to tighten. Baby is held in the same position as in your arms, with baby's head around your collarbone and baby's rear end at or slightly above your waistline. The cotton fabric has just a touch of spandex for stretch.
Carrying Positions
Semi-reclined cradle carry (newborns and small babies; avoid chin-to-chest)
Upright front-facing in with legs froggied inside (newborns and small babies)
Upright front-facing in with legs out (3+ months with good head control but not ready for hip carry)
Upright front-facing out with legs tucked in front Buddha-style (3+ months with good head control)
Hip carry (5+ months with good torso control)
Fits
Newborns, small babies, and toddlers, 8 to 35 pounds
Pay careful attention to positioning for newborns and very young babies
For small babies, this one-shoulder carrier will be comfortable for longer-term carries
For heavier babies and toddlers, one-shoulder wearing will work for quick hip carriers, but may be less comfortable for longer-term carries
Fits most average-size adults between 5'2" and 6'0", 120 to 200 pounds
Not the best choice for very petite, slender parents or broad-shouldered, fluffy parents
Consider a ring sling for a greater range of adjustability if you are smaller or larger than average
Features
Easy-adjusting buckles lift to loosen with cotton webbing straps that pull to tighten
Matching drawstring/backpack style bag
